God’s voice breaks through the chaos of our day to urge us to BE STILL. We often find ourselves busy from morning to night doing good things, but have we neglected to BE STILL and hear God’s voice? Are we striving to work our plan and forget God’s eternal and sovereign plan? It’s during the STILL moments that we gather His strength and wisdom to accomplish His desires for our lives. So often we run around attempting good things but become frustrated or angry because the day isn’t the way we planned. We pack the lunches, feed the baby, mop the floor, fold the laundry, clean the bathroom, make a meal, take the kids to piano or soccer practice, and on and on. We are striving to be an excellent wife, a godly mother, a super housekeeper, a brilliant cook, not to mention being involved in the church. But how often are we STILL?
We put pressure on ourselves to be the best and do the best, but don’t realize there is only ONE thing that is most needful. In Luke 10:42 it says, “But ONE thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part.” The most needful thing to do each day is to sit at the feet of Jesus and BE STILL.
Can I encourage you today to BE STILL? When we take our “to do” list and hold it up in light of eternity is it really going to matter? Let’s not get so preoccupied this week at being busy that we fail to do the most needful. BE STILL and know that I am God.
