Taking Care of your Body For the New Year

III John 2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

God has designed our bodies so uniquely. I read the other day about some things about our bodies in how in an average day, our bodies spontaneously perform certain functions such as:

* You exercise 7 million brain cells
* Your heart beats 103,689 times
* Your hair grows .01717 of an inch
* Your blood travels 168,000,000 miles
* Your nails grow .000046 of an inch
* You move 750 major muscles
* You inhale 438 cubic feet of air
* You speak 48,000 words
* You eat 3.25 pounds of food
* You turn in your sleep 25-30 times
* You drink 2.9 lbs. of liquid
* You give off 85.6 degrees Farenheit of heat
* You perspire 1.43 pints

I LOVE to read facts like this. It ‘s such a reminder of how marvelous and wonderful our God is. God has chosen for our soul to be housed by these magnificent surroundings. More and more I am reminded of how I need to take care of this gift that God has me. This next year, I really want to focus on being better to my body and to always keep in the forefront of my mind about how wonderful God has made my body and that if I don’t take care of this body that God has so fearfully and wonderfully made, then I am not going to be able to fully serve Him at my full potential. Our bodies truly are a gift from the Lord.

I am going to strive to be more healthy and more active this year. I did somewhat better this past year but I want and can do better this coming year. I am about to have my third child in about four weeks. I realize that with another one on the way and already having an active two year old boy, that I need to be in shape and healthy so I will feel good and be all that I need to be for my family too, not just for myself.

So when I am tempted to forego eating healthy or exercising I want to remember this saying:

“A strong, healthy body can provide a lifetime of happiness.”

We need to make sure that we are taking care of our greatest earthly asset.

This is kind of a New Year’s resolution for me and I wanted it to be an encouragement and even maybe a motivation for you. Just to realize how wonderful God has designed our bodies and how we really need to take care of them in order to get be our best.

So, now that we have had our time to eat and snack to our heart’s content over these last few weeks, let’s each take a moment and try to think of at least one thing we can do this next year to help our bodies be more beneficial to the Lord and then to those around us.

And this is just a little plug, but juicing is SOOO  good for you! I plan to do much more juicing this year! I love it and the health benefits are out of this world!
