“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” – Eph. 3:20
I DESIRE, I CRAVE for God to just be so real in my life …to speak to me. …to be obvious in my life.
…AND what He has taught me today is that He wants to be in my life and He wants to bless me and He wants to do that and so MUCH more then I desire.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Psalms 132.
Let’s read it…
FIRST DAVID SPEAKS: “Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions: How he sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob; Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob. Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood. We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool. Arise, O Lord, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength. Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy. For thy servant David’s sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.”
THE LORD SPEAKS BACK: “The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore. For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed. His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.”
DON’T SKIP this. THIS IS SUCH A POWERFUL PSALM.
Have you ever just wanted to have a sit-down conversation with God, where you talked to Him and He responded? Where He is leaning forward to you, listening to your every request.
After you tell him all that is on your heart, He reaches out and takes your hand and says “Sweet daughter of mine, I have you covered. I am not just going to give you “that”, but I am going to give you more then you ever asked for. I love you, baby girl. I have it all under control.”
THIS, MY DEAR FRIEND, THIS is how Psalms 132 is.
The history of this Psalm is that David is trying to get the ark back home. He first does it the wrong way, by transporting it on a cattle cart, and then he finally does it the right way with priests.
David desires to have the Lord there and thus he desires to bring the house of the Lord home. He desires the Lord’s presence.
Follow with me the responses. See David’s requests and then see the Lord tenderly reaching out and responding with over-abundance of love and care. I am paraphrasing below so please see the verses above to get the actual words of God.
David: Please remember the vow you made me.
The LORD: David, I am not going to turn from that vow. I have sworn in truth. I will place your children on the throne as long as they will keep my covenant and the things I have taught them.
David: I want you HERE. I will not sleep until I have you home. (The ark is still in Ephrata)
The LORD: David, I have chosen Zion. I desire to be here. I want to be here forever and I am going to bless this place with bread and provision.
David: Let the priests be clothed in righteousness.
The LORD: David, I’m not going to just give them righteousness, I am going to give them salvation.
David: Let the saints shout for joy.
The LORD: David. they SHALL shout ALOUD for joy.
David: …and lastly please don’t turn away from me, your servant, your anointed one.
The LORD: David, David, if you only knew how much I care. You are not just going to be my annointed servant, you are going to bear THE ANOINTED ONE, the horn of YOUR salvation, the Light of this world, the Crown Jewel, the Savior. …so much more then you can even imagine.
Oh, my dear friend, God’s grace is so much more then we can even fathom. I love that God doesn’t just give us righteousness; He gives us salvation. THIS IS WHAT WE NEED–so much more.
One of my really good friends says that she just thanks God over and over for saying NO to her request for a baby because God has given her one of the most precious gifts in the little baby girl that they were able to adopt.
God’s grace is so much more. I love that He handles it. He listens. He speaks. He calms our fears and holds us close and then gives us so much more then we can even fathom.
He is righteous, yet He is love and He gives us exactly what we need!
Rejoicing in the Present,
